It's hard to believe we are already into November. It has been a busy few months and the students are currently working on a biography assignment.

This Friday, November 7th, the title page for their famous person is due. Most of the students have already completed their title page, and are now writing their biography notes. (Parents are kindly asked to sign the orange sheet showing they saw the title page - thank you to those of you who have done this already.)

Here is the outline of due dates for the project:

November 7th - Famous Person Title Page

November 14th - Biography Notes

November 20th - Timeline Organizer

November 28th - Important Book Poem

December 5th - Written Report

December 15-19th - Speech/Presentation

If you have any questions about the project feel free to send me an email or call me.

IN THE NEWS

A good newspaper article always includes the 5 W’s. When presenting your news article, be sure to include the following:

Article Headline:

Who is the article about?

What is the article about?

Where does it take place?

When does it take place?

Why did you chose this article? (Don’t just say, “Because it was interesting.”)

reminders and inspiration

  • Meet the Teacher is this Wednesday, September 17 starting at 5pm. Since I have two roles at the school, Langauge Arts Teacher and Learning Resource Teacher, I will be in my resource room, room 108. I feel this will give everyone an equal chance to pop by and meet me. I am looking forward to meeting all of you!
  • Puzzle Pieces (We All Fit Together) are due Tuesday, September 16th.
  • Heart Maps are due Thursday, September 18.

Last week the students completed a questionnaire. One of the questions I asked was, "What do you expect of me as a teacher?" A few of them said they wanted to be inspired. So on Friday, we watched a video about a very inspiring farmer named Chris. This week we will be focusing on writing paragraphs, and our first paragraph will be about Farmer Chris.

Check out the video below. I think you will be inspired, too.

Have a wonderful and inspired week!

First Week

Our first week ended with lots of fun, including a spirit assembly, team building games and ice-breaker activities. It was a great first week! I have enjoyed getting to know your children; they are a wonderful group.

This week we did some "get to know you" activities. My favourite was their All About Me Bags. All of the students did a great job of sharing objects, and it was fun to discover some of the things that make them happy and how they spend their free time. Great work F6D!!

  • On Monday, September 8th please bring magazines, newspapers, flyers, photos, (or any other source that can be cut up) that will represent you in our "Fitting Together Project."
  • The "Fitting Together Project" is due Monday, September 15th.
  • Bring a binder, dividers and a novel to read to L.A. class on Monday.
  • If you haven't handed in your questionnaires, please bring return those before the end of the week.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!!
